Labra album + Gnomus debut turns 25

Esa Onttonen Labra’s eponymously titled debut album has been released digitally and as a vinyl LP. The album features me (Esa Onttonen) on electric guitar and bass, Jarmo Saari on electric guitar, Antti Kujanpää on Hammond organ, Mikael Myrskog on keyboards and Joonas Riippa on drums. The album has been recorded and mixed by Miikka Huttunen and mastered and lacquer cut by Jaakko Viitalähde (Virtalähde Mastering). The cover art is by Jussi Karjalainen.

The four album tracks “Consequences,” “They Are Here,” “For All Of Us,” and “To Be Felt” have all been live composed with an application which provides the musicians an additional real-time communication interface that can be used during playing.

The release date of the Labra album coincides with the release of Gnomus debut album 25 years ago. It was not the first album I played on, but it is the first album of a group I co-led with Kari Ikonen and Mika Kallio. The CD edition has been out of print for ages but the digital version can be found at Bandcamp.
